At Ratna Square in Nyali, we came together to celebrate a special moment the graduation of more than 50 Form Four leavers who have been part of our Crash Coding Program.
The program, which runs for 3–4 months, gives learners the chance to dive into graphic design, Microsoft Suite, web development, CCTV configuration, computer networking, and computer maintenance. More than just skills, it’s about shaping a mindset, helping young people see themselves as innovators, problem-solvers, and changemakers.
“The skills you’ve gained here will open doors, but what will sustain you is how you handle your finances. Whatever pay you get from your innovations and solutions, don’t just spend it all. Learn to save, learn to invest, and make decisions that will give you stability and growth.” Mr. Meshack, Family Bank
Prof. Jostina Mwang’ombe, SSP in charge of Shimo Boys Borstal Institution and Education Centre, gave the young people a different kind of challenge: “Life is about branding and rebranding. It is about being resilient and courageous. You will face challenges, but what will keep you going is your ability to rise, rebuild, and keep moving forward.”
Our hope is that the learners will now take these skills and turn them into innovative solutions for social problems, creating real impact in their communities and beyond. This program has been about planting seeds of creativity and courage—and we look forward to seeing those seeds grow into solutions that shape tomorrow.
The Crash Coding Graduation was not an ending, but a beginning. With certificates in hand, skills in their toolkit, and inspiration in their hearts, these young people are stepping into the future ready to dream, build, and transform their world.
